Exploration of Chinese Film and Television Paths under the Influence of the Globalization of Japanese Film and Television Culture ——Taking Hachi: A Dog’s Tale as an Example

In the background of globalization, the development of the Internet and media has brought countries around the world closer together, and cultural communication has become more frequent. Japanese film culture is also playing a more important role around the world. This article takes the Chinese version of the film Hachi: A Dog’s Tale adapted from the Japanese screenplay ハチ公 as an example, combines the relationship between structure and events, globalization theory and localization theory, and takes the localized adaptation of this film as the starting point to discuss the enlightenment of Japanese film and television culture to the development direction of Chinese film and television from multiple perspectives such as casting and location. It will talk about relevant policies, cultivating talents, and maintaining innovative practices from the aspects of government, enterprises and individuals, as well as the importance of maintaining cultural uniqueness in the process of localization, and finally provide new ideas for the development of China’s film industry.

The Legitimacy and Rationality of Universal Jurisdiction

In March, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin, meaning that International Criminal Court (ICC) member states, including South Africa, are obliged to arrest him and transfer him to The Hague for trial if he sets foot on any of their territories. But the recent indictment of the South African government for its public refusal to execute an arrest warrant as a member of the International Court of Justice has again raised questions about international crime and the willingness of states to get involved in it. This paper attempts to discuss the relevant issues of universal jurisdiction from the perspective of case studies, normative analysis and social effects of legal norms, and finally concludes that universal jurisdiction lacks the necessary elements to form customary international law at the level of legal norms, and universal jurisdiction fails to achieve its purpose at the level of practical effects, and lacks the rationality of existence. At the same time, given the current reality of the exercise of universal jurisdiction, this paper suggests that the types of international crimes should be strictly limited, the universal jurisdiction should be separated from states, and the authority of the exclusive jurisdiction of the international court for international crimes should be established.

Study on the Copyright Protection of Artificial Intelligence Generated Objects

With the emergence of a new round of scientific and technological revolution characterized by intelligence, China has made rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence. However, this new concept of artificial intelligence has not yet been fully integrated into the existing legal system, leading to legal dilemmas and systemic obstacles such as unclear attribution of the work, uncertain subject of the right, and unclear path of protection for the content generated by it. The traditional copyright protection model, concerning the generation of artificial intelligence, shows obvious maladaptation in terms of copyright generation, protection period, and content. Hence, there is a need to explore a copyright protection model suitable for artificial intelligence, namely the neighboring rights protection model, while considering relevant legislative practices from other countries dealing with AI-generated content. This paper aims to investigate the neighboring right protection model, which is an adaptable copyright protection model for AI-generated objects, and to draw insights from overseas legislative practices on AI-generated objects.

The Role of New Media in the Public Cognition: Take the Weibo Platform as an Example

With the rapid development of new media, especially the rise of Weibo platforms, its influence on public cognition has become more and more significant. Taking the Weibo platform as an example, this paper deeply discusses the role of new media in public cognition. First of all, by introducing the basic characteristics and functions of the Weibo platform, it also expounds its unique advantages in information transmission. Secondly, the paper analyzes the satisfaction degree of the Weibo platform's demand for obtaining knowledge and information, including information diversity, convenience, and interactivity. However, there are also some problems with the role of new media in public cognition, such as rumor dissemination, information overload, and information distortion. This paper presents solutions and suggestions for these problems. The government and relevant departments should strengthen information monitoring and screening, and reduce the spread of rumors by providing reliable information sources. New media platforms need to take effective measures to improve the credibility of information, such as establishing clear norms and mechanisms for news publication and strengthening the verification of news authenticity. It is also crucial for Weibo platforms to provide valuable and influential content. Platforms should encourage the production and dissemination of quality content while reducing the interference of spam and low-quality content. Finally, improving the public's media literacy is also the key. Through education and training, strengthen the public's ability to judge and distinguish between media information, in order to better cope with information overload and information distortion.

A Report on the E-C Translation of Stance Adverbs with Suffix -ly in Academic Text Teacher-Made Assessment

This paper selects the first, second, and third chapters and some parts of Chapter Four and Seven of the book Teacher-Made Assessment as the material for translation practice, aiming at summarizing and analyzing the translation strategies of -ly stance adverbs in the academic text. Academic texts are mainly used to convey information and are characterized by professionalism, objectivity, interactivity, and conciseness. They are formal, precise, and concise in wording, clear in expression, strong in logic with many complex and long sentences. This paper analyzes three categories of -ly stance adverbs: epistemic, attitudinal, and style adverbs. Epistemic stance adverbs emphasize accuracy, confidence, seriousness, and persuasiveness. Translation techniques include grammatical adjustment and semantic enrichment, showing the accuracy of academic texts. Attitudinal adverbs are a means of value judgment and emotional expression. Their translations reflect the interactive and explicit characteristics of the academic text. Two translation techniques, namely selection of proper attitudinal words and split of sentences, are adopted. Style stance adverbs refer to how information is given. Their translations reflect the professional and standard characteristics of the academic text. Translation techniques of omitting -ly stance adverbs and using formulaic expression are adopted. This paper furthers the investigation into the translation of academic text from the new perspective of -ly stance adverbs. This paper is expected to provide references for translators and readers of academic texts, and to deepen people’s understanding of -ly stance adverbs.

This paper will discuss how this process has caused irreparable damage to the fate of the marginalized characters represented by Mr.Tree, who is both ‘grassroots’ and ‘male’, as well as the inevitable social factors for this damage to occur, so as to analyse the plight of the underclass under the domination of the patriarchal system from a masculine point of view. The male survival dilemma under the domination of patriarchy is analyzed from a masculine perspective.

The Absence of Color in the Film Adaptation of Eileen Chang’s Novels - Take “Crumbs of Ligumaloes - The First Incense Burnt”as a Case Study

There are many picture elements in Eileen Chang’s novel that are suitable for filming, and her works have always enjoyed the title of “film on paper”. One of the most important elements is the use of color. Over the years, several directors have adapted Eileen Chang’s novels into film and television adaptations, but most of them have been controversial. As a hidden narrative method of film, color narration plays an extremely important auxiliary role in the overall presentation of the work. This paper will take the latest film adaptation of Eiling Chang’s novel, “Crumbs of Ligumaloes - the First Incense Burnt”directed by Ann Hui as an example, combining color narrative theory and film color theory to deal with the absence of color in film and television adaptations, and the strategy for film adaptations of great literature.

From the Perspective of Symbolic Interactionism -Understanding Reciprocal Relationships in Car Boot Markets

This research study explores the emergence and development of reciprocal relationships within the car boot market in Guangzhou. Drawing upon the theoretical framework of Symbolic Interactionism, the motivation behind these relationships is examined. The study uses field research, including in-depth interviews and observations, to gather data on the motivations, interactions, and reciprocal exchanges among market participants. The research objectives include understanding the background and characteristics of the car boot market, exploring the establishment of reciprocal relationships from the perspective of Symbolic Interactionism, and investigating the implications of these relationships for social identities. The research methodology encompasses qualitative methods, such as participant observation and interviews, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the car boot market and its reciprocal dynamics. The research findings indicate that in the car boot market, reciprocal relationships are formed through the exchange of symbols and meaningful interactions among vendors and customers. These relationships contribute to the construction of social identities and foster economic development within the market. Through direct and indirect reciprocity, vendors build networks and expand their social identities beyond their existing relationships. The conclusions drawn from this study underscore the significance of interactional behaviors and symbolic exchanges in the car boot market. The research highlights the applicability of Symbolic Interactionism in analyzing and understanding the nuanced dynamics of reciprocal relationships within informal economies. It offers valuable insights for the development and management of the car boot market and recommends strategies for fostering and sustaining reciprocal relationships.

Examining the Morality of the U.S. Atomic Bombings: Strategic Necessity or Controversial Decision?

The morality of the two atomic bombings conducted by the United States on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki has long raised contention among both strategists and the general public. This paper discusses the strategic context of World War II’s Pacific theater and proposes that despite the unprecedented “cruelty” casted on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by atomic weapons, the bombs were dropped out of the strategic necessity to bring a swift end to the war. By reviewing the diaries of key commanders, the U.S. Army’s reports and forecasts of a land invasion of Japan, and account of Japanese resilience and unfathomable refusal to surrender under conventional circumstances, this study demonstrates that by forcing an early Japanese surrender, the atomic attacks obviated a land invasion of Japan, which would have inflicted much heavier casualties and thus provide the moral underpinnings of the atomic weapon attacks.

Unveiling the Fallacies: A Critical Examination of Peter Singer’s Book ‘The Life You Can Save’

Peter Singer’s book The Life You Can Save highlights the global concern of child mortality resulting from poverty and its profound impact on the well-being of children. Singer urges affluent individuals to give proportionate to their financial status to global aid organizations in the interest of alleviating poverty among children. However, Singer’s proposal is not entirely flawless. Poverty, particularly in the present, rapidly advancing world, not only poses moral and ethical dilemmas, but also impedes human development, fosters inequality, and undermines social stability. As a result, it needs to be handled with the utmost caution. This paper critically analyzes the flaw in Singer’s argument, emphasizing that individual donations alone are insufficient to solve complex societal issues and highlights the dependency issues and ineffective targeting of charitable efforts, ultimately revealing that while charitable giving has some positive impact, poverty cannot be significantly reduced without addressing non-cash issues, such as medical care, and implementing international laws and policies to incentivize investment in developing countries.

Research on the Localization Strategy in the Remake of Film and TV Drama ——Taking the Japanese Remake of Journey to the West as an Example

Against the backdrop of globalization, the opportunities for cross-cultural exchanges in the cultural field are gradually increasing, and the development of film and television culture in various countries has ushered in opportunities. However, cross-cultural film and television communication also face obstacles due to the differences in cultural values and national identities among countries. In remakes, it is important to recode the stories and elements of the originals in such scope to reflect the localized folklore stories. The theme of this paper is to explore the dissemination of Journey to the West in Japan within the framework of popular culture and communication studies based on the theory of cultural localization. This paper finds that the Japanese remake of Journey to the West adopted methods of reimagining characters, incorporating traditional Japanese elements, and reflecting contemporary Japanese aesthetics to create a new local culture, and accelerated its localization through unique promotional techniques. At the same time, these approaches offer revelations of cultural transformation and pushing the boundaries of remakes.

Cross-Culture Communication of Japanese Animated Films in China Within the New Media Context

Compared to traditional media, new media is characterized by openness, personalization, segmentation, and cost-effective global communication. It provides a wider platform for films and enables individuals to explore cultural identity within a vast digital community. This paper focuses on cross-cultural communication of Japanese animated films in China, specifically analyzing Sezume directed by Makoto Shinkai. By examining distribution channels, promotional strategies, and narrative elements, the study first illustrates how new media offers opportunities and challenges for cross-cultural film communication. Furthermore, it explores how Sezume skillfully utilizes cultural context to reduce cultural misunderstanding, then apply linguistic symbols and non-linguistic symbols to integrate the ‘world series’ narrative framework with universal thematic expression. Finally, the paper presents recommendations for the cross-cultural communication of animated films: adopt all-age positioning and harmonize global appeal with Japanese tradition and feature; value fans and make long-term commitments with them; collaborate with local agencies in target audience countries; maintain distinctive artistic style and convey universal themes.

Workplace Inequality -- The Discrimination Women Has to Face

This abstract delves into the pervasive issue of workplace gender discrimination, encompassing overt and covert manifestations within professional settings. Despite legislative and judicial efforts, bias persists, inhibiting gender parity. Direct discrimination, exemplified through differential treatment and remuneration, is visible. Covert bias, exemplified through seemingly neutral practices that disproportionately affect genders, is subtler. Organizations must embrace comprehensive strategies: providing family support, continuous diversity training, and addressing evaluation biases. By acknowledging, rectifying, and dismantling these biases, workplaces can foster inclusivity and empowerment, thereby ushering in a future where gender bias is eradicated and all individuals thrive unencumbered by discrimination.

The Impact of Gender Stereotypes on Women in the Workplace

In recent years, although the protection of women’s rights has made considerable progress in the workplace, it’s still difficult for women to enter senior positions with typical “masculine characteristics”, and they still suffer from unequal treatment compared with men. Gender discrimination is still relatively common in workplace. Among them, cognitive bias toward gender is one of the leading causes of gender discrimination in the workplace, and these cognitive biases are partly derived from gender stereotypes. These stereotypical expectations not only reflect existing differences but also profoundly influence the way men and women define themselves and are treated by others. Typical stereotypes about men and women are often widely shared daily. This paper studies the connotation, representation, and formation reasons for gender stereotypes, analyzes the adverse effects of gender stereotypes on women in the workplace, and puts forward suggestions for improving women’s unequal treatment in the workplace from the perspective of gender stereotypes.

A Comparison Between Anaximenes’s Arche and the Wuxing in the Hongfan

While there are numerous similarities between Chinese philosophy and Western philosophy, there are also significant differences that make them extremely distinct from each other. The views of Milesian philosopher Anaximenes and the Wuxing (五行) in pre-Qin Chinese philosophy can be taken as examples, though they are rarely compared together. In actuality, their understandings of natural substances and how air (psyche) or Qi (氣) changes between substances present a framework that is very comparable. But from these comparable frames, two different modes of functioning finally developed. As an illustration, this paper will contrast Wuxing in Hongfan (洪範) with arche in Anaximenes’s ideas. Starting with the natural materials that are present in both philosophies, this paper compares them through textual analysis. According to the definitions and orientations provided by the two philosophies, conclusions can be drawn that Wuxing emphasizes relevance and people, whereas Anaximenes concentrates on the search for the most fundamental principle and the supreme power in the universe.
