Research on Translation Strategies of MOBA Games from the Perspective of Intercultural Communication: A Case Study of League of Legends

In the context of global integration, the communication and connection between countries around the world are increasingly intimate, and electronic sports are flourishing on a global scale. Most popular e-sports games in the current market are developed by foreign companies. When these games are introduced to China, local companies often perform localization adaptations. Game localization involves several steps, including language translation, image adaptation, technical adjustments and cultural adaptation. Among them, language translation serves as the foundation of localization, and its quality directly affects the game’s acceptance and sales performance in the local market. This paper, based on the perspective of intercultural communication, takes League of Legends as an example. It conducts a case analysis of language translation in the game, including character names, character lines, weapon skills, etc., from five dimensions: text, voice, vocabulary, grammar, and rhetoric. It summarizes practical translation strategies for MOBA games, aiming to provide theoretical guidance for game translators and improve the quality of game localization.

A Qualitative Study of the Psychological Effects of Motivational Quotes

Motivational quotes wield and obtain a sense of power towards inspiring individuals to strive towards their goals, harnessing both internal and external motivations. The absence of motivational quotes tends to serve as catalysts, igniting the drive to propel one through challenges and pursue excellence. Externally, motivational quotes often encapsulate universal truths or wisdom, offering perspective and guidance from varied sources and figures. This paper explores the effectiveness of motivational quotes in medical and educational contexts, with a focus on their impact on individuals' behavior. While numerous studies have reported a generally positive attitude toward the use of motivational quotes, specific concerns have emerged. This paper has observed that motivational quotes, delivered through various media, have successfully motivated individuals to take positive actions, such as adhering to medication regimens and quitting smoking. However, some studies have highlighted potential limitations, including overexposure leading to reduced effectiveness, the contextual relevance of motivational quotes, and the distinction between external and internal motivation. This paper presents an overview of the existing research, offering insights into the mixed opinions on the use of motivational quotes for motivation. It calls for future studies to consider contextual factors, audience mindset, media selection, and quote suitability in order to enhance their efficacy.

The Role of Urban Disaster Risk Management in Major Catastrophic Events: A Case Study of Resilience in Chinese Cities During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The emergence of infectious diseases has historically influenced urban development, necessitating the evolution of urban planning toward greater disaster resilience. The COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, has revealed weaknesses in modern urban planning and governance, emphasizing the need for enhanced urban resilience and disaster risk management. For China, as urban populations continue to grow, urban resilience and disaster risk management have become focal points for urban planners and policymakers, ensuring that cities can rapidly adapt and effectively respond to various challenges. This study summarizes a series of emergency measures adopted by the Chinese government during the COVID-19 pandemic and analyzes their effectiveness. China's response, characterized by early intervention, social distancing, extensive testing, and advanced tracking technologies, effectively curtailed the virus's spread, especially in Hubei province and its capital, Wuhan. Despite these successes, the paper identifies areas where China's urban resilience could be improved, including coordination of emergency plans, information dissemination, and social cohesion, among other aspects, to better confront future challenges.

The Interpretation of the Modern Spirit of Chekhov’s Drama on the Contemporary Stage -- Taking Butusov Theater as an Example

Chekhov’s plays have long been very popular in modern theater, especially in the major theaters of Russia. Many theatrical masters have adapted his classic texts. However, some adaptations have a strong avant-garde and experimental color, and the creator’s consciousness is too strong. So it is easy to ignore the fundamental of the text, in other words, the modernity problem. This paper takes Russian director Yuri Butusov’s adaptation of Chekhov’s plays as an example to study how the contemporary drama stage interprets the spirit of modernity in the text. This paper applies the relevant theories, which are all reflected in the Butusov Theater, including Meyerhold’s cubist stage concept, the “contextualizing cubism” proposed by the British scholar Amy Skinner, and Bakhtin’s carnival theory. Butusov deeply explores the modern spirit of Chekhov’s drama and presents it with his unique directing art, which is also an alternative expression of the classic text.

Research on Promoting Entrepreneurship among Returning Migrant Workers

To encourage migrant workers to return to their hometowns for entrepreneurship, the Guangxi government has formulated a series of supportive policies under the guidance of national policies. Understanding the direction for policy improvement requires exploring what migrant workers truly want and what concerns they have. This paper first establishes an index system based on eight dimensions including subjective attitudes, physiological motivations, and social motivations through the construction of a Random Forest model, analyzing the importance of various factors affecting the willingness of migrant workers to return home for entrepreneurship. The study found that the factor "influence from peer groups or media reports" has a significant impact on their willingness. Secondly, using the AMIRA model to predict the per capita disposable income of rural residents in Guangxi for the next seven years, it was found that their income is on an upward trend, which is conducive to enhancing the willingness of migrant workers to return home for entrepreneurship. Lastly, based on the research, countermeasures and suggestions are proposed from the perspectives of the government, market, and society to promote entrepreneurship among returning migrant workers.

Foucault's Study of Power Theory -- A Textual Study Based on Discipline and Punishment

As the basic concept of political philosophy, power has the nature of absolutely dominating social operation. For a long time, political science and sociology have examined how it operates from a top-down perspective. With the development of grand narrative and the rise of structuralism, the theory of power also needs to be further updated to conform to the trend of postmodernism. Through his research on the development of prisons and other institutions, Foucault realized that the operation law of power was not inseparable from political governance as explained by traditional philosophy, but integrated into the lives of all people in an atomic way. In the modern era, the art of domination incorporates this microphysics and develops it into a technology that, unlike the oppressive domination of antiquity, interferes with People's Daily lives in a way that is controlled by the body. The key to this technology is discipline, which operates in institutions that alienate time and space, and also separate man's utility from his capacity to develop, making him part of the social machine. Foucault's micro-power theory may seem very different from the theory of right and Marxism, but it is used in the context of a contractual society, and its purpose is economic, without disconnection. Through micro-power, we can have a clearer understanding of modern state governance under capitalism.

The Hidden Effects of Social Media on Thoughts and Actions

Nowadays, social media is being widely used, which brings individuals the convenience of obtaining information, but at the same time, its disadvantages are also apparent. It can be said that the characteristics and functions of social media are a “double-edged sword”; it has a significant impact on individuals because it will subconsciously change people’s “identity” from active seekers of information to passive consumers. Therefore, this paper will focus on how social media decreases individuals’ willingness and initiative to receive information and how social media uses algorithms and big data to influence people’s perceptions and actions. For example, silently, social media algorithms create a filtering bubble so that individuals can only see posts that are similar to their viewpoints; and how social media platforms establish business profit models that change individual’s traditional consumption patterns and the functioning of related business markets. As social media continues infiltrating personal lives, the authors conclude that people will lose their online identity and become more passive.

Research on the Application of Criminal Law to Cross-Border Online Gambling in China

With the continuous deepening of globalization and the rapid development of internet technology, cross-border online gambling, as an emerging form of crime, has brought new challenges to social security and international cooperation. Based on the current criminal law in China and relevant research, this paper analyzes in depth the characteristics of cross-border online gambling and the loopholes and deficiencies in the current legal system, and puts forward corresponding improvement suggestions. Drawing on existing academic research results at home and abroad, combined with relevant cases in China and legal practices in other countries and regions, this paper believes that in dealing with cross-border online gambling crimes, it is necessary to adhere to legislation first, clarify relevant charges and sentencing standards, and ensure the completeness and applicability of the legal system. At the same time, law enforcement agencies should strengthen cooperation and information sharing, form a joint force to decisively cut off the interest chain of cross-border online gambling. In addition, international cooperation is also an indispensable part, and all countries should make joint efforts to establish an international law enforcement cooperation mechanism to jointly combat cross-border online gambling crimes. Through comprehensive measures and joint efforts, social harmony and stability can be maintained, and the vital interests of the people can be safeguarded.

Whether Different Languages Can Have Different Impacts on the Learning of Different Subjects?

In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of research on second language acquisition, basically looking at the benefits of second language learning and how it can be done better. However, it is not clear whether the language can strengthen some areas of the brain, thus leading to the learning of some subjects in the region where the local language is learned being more advantageous or even easier to learn than in other regions. For example, mathematical ability in Asia, artistic ability in Europe, and the ability to distinguish snow colors in Skimmers. Therefore, this study will use a case study method to investigate whether the effects of bilingualism (dialect) or different languages on the brain and learning can have the same reinforcement as natural learners. The case study reveals the effect of language on the learning of some subjects, such as teaching in Chinese, which makes it easier for students to understand math vocabulary, and the possibility of learning a language to strengthen other subjects, which means that it is possible to intervene at a certain age to strengthen the learning ability.
